Biography

Attorney Smith, a highly experienced legal professional, brings decades of expertise in bankruptcy and insolvency law. A proud native of Worcester, Massachusetts, he graduated from Holy Name CCHS in 1972, followed by earning a BA in History and Political Science from St. Francis College in Biddeford, Maine (now University of New England) in 1976. After completing his legal studies at Suffolk University Law School, where he received his JD in 1980, Attorney Smith worked at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Massachusetts and was appointed as Clerk of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Hampshire shortly before graduation.

In 1987, he founded his own practice in Manchester, New Hampshire, specializing in bankruptcy and insolvency matters, and served as a Chapter 7 bankruptcy trustee for over 25 years, handling more than 10,000 cases. Throughout his career, he has contributed to continuing legal education (CLE) programs for prestigious organizations such as the American Bankruptcy Institute, the New Hampshire Bar Association, and the National Business Institute.

In January 2024, Attorney Smith transitioned from managing his own office to joining the Law Office of Daniel C. Clark in an “Of Counsel” role, where he continues to focus on bankruptcy and insolvency issues. With a passion for guiding clients through complex financial matters, Attorney Smith brings not only a wealth of experience but also a genuine dedication to providing thoughtful and reliable legal advice.

Outside of his professional life, Attorney Smith enjoys spending time with his wife, Martha, in Londonderry, New Hampshire, and cherishes the opportunity to stay connected with his two grown children. His approach to law is grounded in personal attention, empathy, and the understanding that each client deserves a solution tailored to their unique circumstances.
